Detailed Return Arrangements — 2020/21 GUPS News

Arrangements for Return

Please find below a letter from Highland Council regarding our return to school with Frequently Asked Questions.  I am currently working with the Area Office to finalise arrangements for a phased return from Wednesday, 12th August (Tuesday, 11th is an Inset training for staff only) as well as for lunch etc and hope to issue these ASAP.  As explained in the attached guidance all children will attend full-time from the week beginning Monday, 18th August at normal times – 8.55-3.25 for P4-7 and 9.00-3.10 for P1-3 with all children finishing at 12.10 on a Friday.

I can confirm that, as explained in my letter before the break, all classes will move up in the same split as last year e.g. P1/2 will become P2/3 and so on.

Class teachers are as follows:

P1 (previous Nursery 4 children ) – Mr Adrian MacLeod

P2/3 (previous P1/2 with Mr MacLeod) – Mr Stephen Marshall with Mrs Alyson McLean on a Tuesday

P3/4 (previous P2/3 with Ms MacKay) – Mrs Lisa James with Mrs Alsyon McLean on a Monday

P5/6 (previous P4/5 with Ms Walker) – Miss Louise MacDonald

P6/7 (previous P5/6 with Miss MacDonald) – Miss Kirstine Mullin with management half day per week covered by Mrs Alyson McLean

Gaelic Medium P1-6 – Mr Ewen Kelly

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

Summer wishes

As we go off on our summer break, I just wanted to wish all our families a super summer break.  It has been quite a different last term for us all and in the absence of our closing assembly, I have completed a video for all the children to say goodbye and recognise all that we have achieved over this year.  This can be found here: https://youtu.be/Nll_b7jRd3M

We also hope to put up video introductions to all the staff for new pupils to the school in the Staff section of the School website.

Some parents have also explained that the details about next year, given out in the letter last Thursday may have got missed in all the information overload so I have reattached that below.

It can also be found on the school News page along with the Parent Council minutes.  As explained in this letter, I will aim to communicate in more detail what our return will entail at Glenurquhart Primary the first week in August, following government decisions and Highland Council guidance.  I recognise that this has been a challenging situation for many families and hope that we can do all that we can to support as we go forward.

In the meantime, everyone at Glenurquhart Primary hopes that you can relax and enjoy a wonderful summer break.  We look forward to seeing you on our return in August and hearing all about the children’s adventures and stories.

Virtual Chess Club Update

During the month of June, we held three simultaneous competitions: Fast Chess, Puzzles and Stars. Our Slow Chess competition came to a glacial stop, as no one managed to complete a match before it timed out! (Miss Mullin has learned a lot about running a chess club online!)

Congratulations to Conon, Matthew, Liam M, Maisie, Ivan and Ethan who have all earned chess stickers this month.
