As part of their enterprise project the P5/6 class made reindeer to be raffled off. Don’t they look superb? We drew the raffle today in assembly. Congratulations to the winners below!
Many thanks to Abriachan Forest Trust who donated a Christmas tree to the school from one of their stock of conservation Christmas trees. If anyone wants to support a local charity and help conserve the planet they’ll be selling them right up until Christmas.
Huge thanks to Barbara Henderson for an inspiring and entertaining author visit last month!
On Tuesday 26th November, P4-7 enjoyed a special author visit from Barbara Henderson. She started off by explaining the publishing process. She encouraged everyone to aim high and keep working towards your goals!
She then explained the historical research behind her latest novella, “Black Water.” It’s a historical adventure story all about smuggling and Rabbie Burns! She asked for P4-7 volunteers to play some of the main parts, and then all of us joined in, trying to smuggle goods without being caught. Everyone had a great time!
After her presentation, some of the pupils were able to purchase signed copies of all 4 of her books.
Unfotunately, we have had to cancel this after school club today. This will not run next week either due to the election preparations taking place. We hope to start this again after the Christmas break and thank Mrs Hickson for her time and efforts in running the club.
As our school will be closed on Thursday 12th December for the General Election, the Highland Council want to ensure that all pupils can have access to a meal for Thursday 12th December. We can offer this as a pre-order packed lunch option which would be taken home by pupils at the end of the school day on Wednesday 11th December.
The packed lunch offering will consist of:
- Ham or cheese sandwich:
- Piece of fruit
(Some items may vary dependant on availability)
The catering service need the pre-order numbers by Friday, 6th December, to allow time for ordering the necessary stock for both food and packaging supplies. This service is available to all pupils, i.e those paying and those entitled to a free school meal. The cost will be the normal price of a school meal at £2.30.
• Packed lunches would have to be pre ordered – orders and payments to the relevant school kitchen by Friday, 6th December.
Parent/carers should be aware that once all packed lunches are collected and taken home/away, Highland Council will not accept further responsibility, it will be up to parents and carers to accept responsibility for the appropriate storage of the packed lunch in relation to food safety.
Please let the school office know by the morning of Friday, 6th December if you require a packed lunch for Thursday, 12th December. To confirm, pre-ordered packed lunches would be made up and available for pupils to take home at the end of the school day on Wednesday 11th December.
Each year, in December, our handbook has to be updated and submitted in preparation for new enrollments in the New Year. Our new handbook for 2020-21 can be found in the ‘For Parents’ or ‘Our School’ section of the website.
