Those who have qualified for the Gigafinals will be given a special certificate. A statement about the Gigafinals is included below – these have been postponed until September /October.
“It is with regret that we have taken the decision to postpone all Megafinals until September at the earliest. This is due to the continuing health crisis surrounding the coronavirus and the uncertainty that this brings for organisers and schools. Our current plan is to run the Gigafinals in October – but of course the situation is rapidly changing.“
“We still hope to run our competitions later in the year. We will also be running various online competitions and video training sessions throughout the year.”
Update 17.3.20
We continue to follow National advice and that issued by Highland Council on the rapidly changing Coronavirus situation.
Self Isolation – It has been announced by the UK/Scottish Government that as of 16 March anyone developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, however mild, should stay at home for 7 days from the onset of symptoms as per existing advice. In addition, it is now recommended that anyone living in the same household as a symptomatic person should self-isolate for 14 days.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of new continuous cough and/or high temperature.
Information for the public on COVID-19, including stay at home advice for people who are self-isolating, can be found on NHS Inform.
Further, people are advised to take social distancing measures to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. In particular, this is strongly advised for people aged 70 or over, people with underlying medical conditions and pregnant women. Further advice on these measures will be available on NHS Inform shortly.
After school Clubs – All after school clubs (in the Primary School) are now cancelled until further notice. We are awaiting an update from Highlife Highland in regard their clubs.
Visitors to school – We will have no outside visitors e.g. Forest Schools, Gaelic Bookbug etc until further notice.
Jotters – Due to increasing absences, we have issued jotters today with logins to school specific websites where children can access work in the eventuality of a school closure as well as, use this to record in. As detailed earlier in the week, class blogs will be the main communication from school in this case. For those already absent, teachers will aim to email home these logins.
Further information will follow on delivering digital learning opportunities in the event of a school closure.

McRoberts Cup Postponed
We received notice this afternoon that the decision has been taken to postpone the McRoberts Cross Country to a later date. We know this will be disappointing for those involved but, hope that this event will be able to take place at a future date.
Logo competition

Loch Ness Hub logo competition
GURCA (Glenurquhart Rural Community Association) would like pupils to design a new logo (in colour) for the Loch Ness Hub community building (formerly the Tourist Info Centre). There will be a gift voucher for the winning entry. Entries to be handed to Miss MacDonald by Thursday 26th March.
Please click on link for instructions and entry sheet.
Charities and Celebrations
Following the Charities and Celebrations assembly last week, the children have chosen the charity the SSPCA to support. They will now be collecting used stamps in April and May. These can be sent into the school and the charities and celebration pupils in each class will collect them in.
Fair Trade Active Award
We received our Fair Trade Active Award today following all the work over the previous year, activities in Fair Trade Fortnight and partnership with Scotmid. Another excellent achievement for the school.
